I dont know how the new exploration is going to work, getting to unknown systems between known systems, but this is my concept of approach: the black ops and coverts have a new prospective role :D
We know covert frigs (cheetah), t3's, and the first sisters of eve ships are the king of exploration. So, its only logical to make them the ones used to scan out the "deep space" systems between known eve space.
Adding a new role to these ships, what better ships to scan out undiscovered systems beyond the one you're currenly in, other than them and while using the deep space scanner probes that were taken out? They would use these probes that you put back asexploration scanner probes and ONLY those ships could use them! Make the distance they are able to reach, in AU, be affected & increased by the new astrometrics skill, specifically for scanning out new, undiscovered system! Make the max range be that of the current "jump portal generation" skill that black ops can, as you'll see why in a minute!
So, what now that you have found a new system, using the newly added role of covert ops, certain SOE's, and t3's? Make a bridge to it with the new black ops-exsclusive module Exploration Jump Portal Generator! Just like those ships being able to use Covert Jump Bridge, this would allow them to be bridged to the newly discovered system BUT without a cyno being in it, of course. In order for the blops to complete the bridge, it would have to appear on the map after it has been pinpointed by these specialized ships that are in the same fleet; the cyno beacon would essentially be the newly-discovered system's scan strength being 100% from these specialized ships' probes!
Unneccessary, but if you wanted to require alliances, as a group effort, to be able to find the systems and claim them, you could even require more than one newly exploration-roled ship to have it pinpointed @ 100%, all at the same time. This way, if any of the, (for example) required ten exploration ships' probes timed out (the hour timer you get when launching), it would cause a complication by not having enough probes pinpointing the system at once, not enough pinpointed to show a beacon to the blops for it to bridge or jump to it.
Once in the system, you could put up a small pos, using a blockade's cargo, and put the new pos module you guys have in store for gateways to the undiscovered systems! |
